#No More #Guns - No More #Killing! #Swords into #Plowshares!

I love and respect our US Constitution but it has and will evolve as we do. People who think otherwise do not know their history or that of the Constitution that has already with many amendments added since ratification in 1791 - not 1776! - As well as Supreme Court and Congress decisions counter balancing the Bill of Rights like the common sense exception to 1st Amendment Free Speech - no yelling fire in building that is not on fire etc. My father was a military guy who owned a gun but I despise guns because all they do is kill. But I am not against defending yourself but without killing on purpose whoever attacks- and am also a vegetarian since i was a teen many moons ago to be consistent in my beliefs but I do not practice what the ancient Hindu extremists Jains called Ahimsa = no killing at all. I do eat fish occasionally, kill bugs that come near my kitchen counter and even wear leather and eat some dairy products - but I am 85% there - which is good enough for me right now. Anyway, I am a supporter of the second amendment at this point in history even though I hate guns - but not military weapons for average citizens! Yet I also believe in what Gandhi practiced with much success - Satyagraha = Truth Force. He was not passive by any means in his life time of dedicated Social Work on 3 continents that culminated in freeing India from 200 years of British Imperialism rule via militant civil disobedience - some people did die and many were beaten but none killed or shot back. I think most agree that killing is the worse sin/ bad Karma a person can do. Now that we have Gandhi example and Martin Luther King's successful Civil Rights Movement in the 20th century as proof of the valid nature of the non-violent approach to conflict - which does a moral jujitsu on people's conscience - that all possess - humans are ready to make a quantum leap to a higher level of consciousness where we truly live up the the platitude that all life is sacred - because we never have so far on a mass world wide level - but it (peace - swords into plowshares and lion lays with lamb) will happen if we survive this nuclear and bio-tech age. Thus the need for guns is really not necessary if you choose to make a vow of peace and never to kill a fellow human, which is basically playing God and that is blasphemy - and surely the bad karma that comes with such a vile action will not help you advance in the next life. There are still many lessons to be learned. We are still very primitive in our behavior toward one another. I met a very smart and talented jazz musician recently who said he did not care about all the isms - said if everyone was just nice to each other - the rest would take of itself. Words of wisdom.
